Rida is an interdisciplinary scholar of AI technologies in the Global South. She is currently researching the cultural impacts of generative AI for non-western cultures and communities. Through her work she seeks to build generative AI pipelines that are inclusive of global cultures and respect the expertise, knowledge and agency of global communities. Her past research has examined how mobility apps fail for workers in non-western contexts and how workers then repair, resist and understand these algorithmic systems. She completed her PhD in Computational Urban Science and Masters in Urban Studies from MIT.
